B’s Version of a Mexican Pizza Pie – Ole!

Posted in: Food|By: Britt Peterson|May 17, 2012

Alright now, before all you health nuts cast your judgmental eyes upon me, you should know that this isn’t all that bad for you.  And for those paleos or gluten free-ers, just do away with the whole wheat tortilla and cheese and – presto! – you can enjoy this dish too! Side note: Before baking, I scooped some extra “filling” into a bowl and ate it sans tortilla and cheese, and it was deeeelish.  I almost didn’t want to go through the hassle of baking it. #lazychef

Smoothie Time: Purple “Green Machine”

Posted in: Food|By: Britt Peterson|May 4, 2012

If you’re not a huge fan of the way raw kale or collard greens taste, you’re not alone.  Let’s be honest with ourselves, we eat the stuff because we know the outrageous amount of health benefits they provide.  However, if you blend them up and mix them with something sweet, they’re really not so bad, and yet they still provide your bod with all of their powerful nutrients.  You can even feel the effects after drinking a glass. If you don’t believe me, this smoothie is your drinkable proof.

Warm Eggplant, Bell Pepper & Goat Cheese “Salad”

Posted in: Food|By: Britt Peterson|April 26, 2012

Unfortunately, my  Canon Rebel is not working at the moment. Grrr : (  But I just HAD to share this recipe with you guys. So the iPhone cam will have to do.  I found it off of www.thekitchn.com, but I tweaked it a little to make it my own.  And the tweaks were 100% genius.  I don’t know if anyone’s ever tried Trader Joe’s “Sweet & Spicy Pecans” before? If you have, you’d know they have the potential to make something ordinary taste EXTRAordinary. I never understood that word…

1 Skirt, 3 Ways: The Final Rose

Posted in: Fashion|By: Britt Peterson|April 23, 2012

Don't take yourself so seriously! Get goofy : )

After days of anticipation, I have finally posted the last of the rose-colored skirt series.  But in the words of Chris Harrison (Bachelor/Bachelorette host): “When you’re ready.” So thank you Chris. I am ready to show the world yet another way to wear this girly chiffon maxi skirt.  This time, I combo’d the sweet skirt with the fabulous leather and lace duo we all know and love (similar to the second post in the series).

Scented Plug-ins // Au Naturel

Posted in: Blog, DIY|By: Britt Peterson|April 19, 2012

I recently found out that plug-in air fresheners (as well as many other things) have something highly toxic in them called VOC, “volatile organic compounds.” Don’t be fooled by the “organic” part, focus on the “volatile” part.

Among other things, VOC can cause: infertility, headaches, nervous system disorders, memory loss and cancer.  Yikes! Who knew?

1 Skirt 3 Ways: Blush & Blur

Posted in: Blog, Fashion|By: Britt Peterson|April 4, 2012

Same skirt, different way.  The cool thing about a maxi skirt is that it can transform into a mid-length dress with a snap of the fingers and a sinch of a belt.  So really, you’re getting a two-for-one deal. And “deal” is one of the best words in the dictionary.

Recently Keen on Quinoa: Sweet Potato, Quinoa Salad

Posted in: Blog, Food|By: Britt Peterson|March 28, 2012

Just when I was about to give up on this quinoa kick, the Sweet Potato, Quinoa Salad comes along.  I must admit, I haven’t been the biggest fan of the rediscovered super food that seems to all the range as of late. However, it seems to be a great substitute for rice and other carby, glutenous options, so I’ve forced myself to try it out.

1 Skirt 3 Ways: Roses are Red

Posted in: Blog, Fashion|By: Britt Peterson|March 27, 2012

It’s amazing what you can do with one staple piece. This rose-colored maxi skirt is so versatile and I didn’t even realize it until I started pairing my entire closet with it. The color goes well with blues like jean and navy (pictured here), black, floral, I can even picture it with a grey over-sized sweater.

Lemon Salt Scrub-a-Dub, Dub

We’ve all heard the saying, “When life gives you lemons, make lemon salt scrub.” Wait, that doesn’t sound right…

White Bean and Squash Soup

Posted in: Blog, Food|By: Britt Peterson|March 21, 2012
The inspiration for this post was left over squash and the stormy, frigid weather that America’s Finest city has had to endure these past few days. I know, we’re complete wimps when temps drop below the 70′s. I also love the way the red peppers and yellow squash look with those neutral white beans.  I’d like to incorporate an outfit out of those shades…
Too much?
